BREAKING NEWS FROM ASO VILLA

Quite a challenging week it has been for Nigeria, and, indeed, the rest of the world. Except perhaps in China only, where the affliction started from, figures of Coronavirus infections continue to mount in other parts of the world. Italy and Spain have been particularly badly hit.
But as the world reels under the impact of a most pernicious pandemic, a suicide bomber wreaking deadly havocs, merchants of fake, hateful news remain fully at work. Aso Villa, the seat of presidential authority, has been their focus for most of the week. They have kept churning out spurious reports after the other about President Muhammadu Buhari, and some other people who work with him. If you choose to believe them, the President by now has even been evacuated, and is receiving medical attention at an undisclosed location somewhere in the wide world.
Breaking news from Aso Villa. That is what you have had day after day. And each time I am contacted to authenticate one story or the other, I tell the enquirers that the Presidential Villa is part of the world, part of humanity, and the people there are not immune from what is happening in the rest of the world.

But the outright fake, hateful news, I have ignored all week. Not a word in response. How do you begin to give wings to concocted stories through responses that will make the falsehood fly faster? No, purveyors of wickedness should not have the satisfaction of drawing us out all the time, and getting some tacit endorsement for their flight of fancy.
A top aide of the President tested positive early in the week. He is receiving adequate care, and he has our best wishes. But for the sinister minds, it was floodgate to all sorts of malediction. All sorts of Breaking News followed:
‘Intensive care machines brought into Aso Rock.’ ‘President Buhari coughing ceaselessly.’ ‘PMB under intensive care.’ ‘Adesina among those who accompanied Abba Kyari to Kogi.’ (I never did). ‘Garba Shehu under self-isolation.’ ‘Buhari may be smuggled out of the country, as condition worsens.’ And by yesterday, a recorded message started circulating on WhatsApp, saying President Buhari had been sneaked out of the country. To where? By who? Their fecund imaginations did not say.
And more Breaking News: ‘Buhari bans journalists from covering Aso Villa.’ (A man supposedly in intensive care was still banning reporters. Lol). ‘Buhari in self-isolation’ (Yet he was in the office on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, even receiving visitors). ‘Aso Villa shut down.’ And the vile beat goes on…
Why do some people conjure nothing but evil? Why do they imagine vain things? In 2017, while President Buhari had his medical challenge, they were on orgy of negative wishes, misinformation, and disinformation. But God pulled a fast one on them. He brought the President back, as right as rain. Haven’t they learned their lessons?
With the good people, however, positive things are happening. Tony Elumelu’s UBA is giving N5 billion to help Nigeria and Africa. Abdusamad Rabiu (BUA) has donated one billion Naira in cash. . Folorunsho Alakija has imported test kits and other materials for Nigerians, worth hundreds of millions of Naira. Aliko Dangote, after an initial donation of N200 million to combat Coronavirus, is leading top bankers and the private sector generally to raise aid. GTBank has donated a 100 beds care center. The Redeemed Christian Church of God has provided ventilators. And many more. These are the people and organizations that should define us as a people, not the conjurers of wickedness and doomsday. God is surely greater than them. And Nigeria too.

  1. Mr Femi Adesina, this is not fair and is so wrong what you have written here and I respectfully disagree with you, remember everything is under the Skye, only GOD Almighty is above and sees all. If you don’t want all the fake news as you rightfully implied to spread as the Coronavirus is spreading, bring Mr President out and kill these so called fake news, bring him out and let him address the nation, SIMPLE. Also confirm if Abba kyari is in good health or not. If you can do this then a lot of people that are spreading these fake stories will be put to shame plus Nigerians will at least have rest of mind that their President is truly in good health. There is no need showing Nigerians on Mr President’s tweeter page a picture which by the way shows no date and time as to when it was taken. There is also no need putting out a memo stating at the bottom the Presidents name but constructed/written by Mallam Garba Shehu. Bear in mind Mr Femi Adesina you are an extremely intelligent man (not patronising you) and so are the 199 million Nigerians just as intelligent as yourself. ALL THEY ARE ASKING FOR IS TO SEE THEIR PRESIDENT.

    • vices? Who put that in your brain? Is it your pastors, your parents, is it the dormant schools you went to? Guys, remove that shit from your brain. Until the people learn to stand up and demand what’s due for them, nothing will change.

This Social distancing and self isolation is not Afrocentric! Is not for Africans and will never work for Africans in this situation should it get out of hands. How are we going to sustain families during this Isolation if the situation gets too tough? This is the window period to think!! Don’t let it hit us before we plan for it.

America with the lowest level of poverty is giving each adult a thousand dollars, (N380,000) but you are comfortable Isolating without food.

      Desperate situations requires desperate measures.”

  2. God Almighty will continue to protect us, and grant us the Spirit of oneness in Nigeria, to love ourselves as Jesus Christ loves the Church in Jesus mighty name.
    Nigeria will be safe!
    Nigeria will be great!

  3. Nice one Mr.we as Nigerians brought this on ourself our attitude and selfish nature brought all this.regardly your status in society you must self isolate yourself for good 14 days but our elites citizens always believed there above the law.God save the sick and protect we that never get it .God protect Mr President and all his workers including VP and other good people who are working for this country to be great.
Sir this is opportunity for us as country to increase our agriculture product if this thing go on for 6 months.only self-sufficient county in food supply will survive so fg should find mean to mobilize our farmers and other people to go into farming.there are been doing well in this regard but they need to do more at this time.
    God continue to bless Nigeria
    Protect Mr. President.

    • Dey shud flog all d govts & president of nigeria one by one.
I saw a video now where dey’re giving masses #1,000 cash, 1paint of rice with little pepper to sustain stay@home.

They said we shud avoid crowd not 2b infected wit corona virus & dey’re gathering people to give Dem peanut inside the market

      *BIG SHAME ON OUR LEADERS*

  4. IF YOU CAN DONATE BILLIONS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 YOU CAN STOP MEDICAL TOURISM ABROAD.

I read from Mr. Femi Adesina’s Facebook wall that

“Tony Elumelu’s UBA is giving N5 billion to help Nigeria and Africa. Abdusamad Rabiu (BUA) has donated one billion Naira in cash. And many more.”

This is a welcoming development and it is laudable.

However, I think it will be most sensible and most acceptable, if they can all combine efforts ‘post-COVID-19 pandemic” to build a World Class Hospital in Abuja or Lagos for their elite-class ONLY, AT LEAST, and STOP their regular medical tourism abroad and save Nigeria some cost in foreign exchange.

Just imagine if any of these rich elites are sick now, they will be forced to attend the same poorly equipped hospitals in Nigeria, as there is now a lockdown on international travels to the US, UK, etc.

So, they better have one Standard Hospital that is well equipped and well-staffed with highly trained and enough-paid physicians, nurses, etc for their exclusive uses.

At least just for their selfish purpose alone! And to save us from the ridicules of having our president getting medical treatment abroad!!!

Even if they like, they can make the security of such a hospital be like that of Aso Rock!!!

Dr Olarinre Salako wrote from the USA.

  5. Impressive, to my fellow citizens of Nigeria this is not time for fake news but prayers for the nation and the world. May God forgave and save us all

  6. Mr. Adesina. I want you to understand that these devilish people won’t stop in their efforts to pull down the government because they are being paid to do their evil jobs.
My advice is that you in the president’s media team need to reach out to the masses quicker and more frequently.

  7. Mr. Adesina, you need to understand that these devilish will not stop in their evil plans and work to pull down the government because they’re being paid for for their evil works.
Please note that it’s very important to increase the frequency at which you reach out to the Nigerian masses and also be quicker – they are really performing a lot of damages in the mindset and impression of the masses about the government.

  8. Are you really saying that these donations are real, and not take news too? Then Coronavirus is in trouble then.
But seriously speaking we want to see the President in action like we see Trump etal on TV doing one thing or the other in trying to defeat covik1:9 sorry covid-19.

  9. Good day sir is there any element of truth in the rumor going on on Whatsapp that the fg wants to assist Nigerian s during this compulsory holiday with 8500 naira by dropping ones bvn .thank u sir

  10. Well said Mr. Femi, this government has always given us course to doubts the all that is coming out from the presidency. I have not seen sincerity in this government from day one.

  11. What is bad for the President to come out and address the nation. Is he not seeing how other world leaders are really behaving and leading by example. Why is everything about our president is in secrecy. Deep in your mind, you know that all these are not right.

    • Abeg all this English would not clear doubts in the air.lets him come out and address us as naira is bigger than anybody’s STYLE of behaving and ruling.mtchewwwwww

  12. ‘Buhari in self-isolation’ (Yet he was in the office on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, even receiving visitors). – femi adesina

WHAT IS WRONG IF BUHARI GOES ON SELF ISOLATION? ISN’T THAT BETTER FOR HIM TO DO INSTEAD OF CONTRACTING THE DEADLY VIRUSES? IS HE BIGGER THAN OTHER PRESIDENTS AND GOVERNORS WHO HAVE DONE SO?

  13. I am very contradicted from what you have stated in your facebook page about the health condition of our president.

  14. Expertly delivered, professionally crafted, informative, educating, always a delight. Kudos@Antigha-PA, GM NTA Uyo💚💛

  15. Commendable, but sir blend PR with information dissemination. Be pro active, potray your boss very well, they called Alhaji Lai, a liar, because, he’s boxed them to the corner, they can’t fault him.

  16. Mr Adesina, what plans do Buhari’s government have for the 40 million Nigerians that are supposed to be on isolation in terms of food and financial aid like other advance countries of the world are doing, ordering ventilators and all the kits is not enough to over come this CONVID-19 crises, it is just a step, but the next deadly virus that will follow if not addressed as soon as possible will more devastating than the Corona virus pandemic, that is the hunger virus and looming at our door steps

  17. Igbayi laaro! Mr. President just waking up from slumbering when it’s late already, after how many “deaths” on the streuets and in the hospitals?

  18. Mr Femi , thanks so much for taking the time to inform Nigerians about the activities and happenings in the Aso rock,May our country survives this plaque.Amin.

  19. Mr Adesina, you have made a very good write up, of course it’s your job to do so. But have you been able to convince anyone? The president should not have anything to fear or loose to make a live broadcast to assuage the citizens. Moreso the issue of health facilities in the country has now come to roast. If this persists or escalates, will be in a real mess, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

  20. vices? Who put that in your brain? Is it your pastors, your parents, is it the dormant schools you went to? Guys, remove that shit from your brain. Until the people learn to stand up and demand what’s due for them, nothing will change.

America with the lowest level of poverty is giving each adult a thousand dollars, (N380,000) but you are comfortable Isolating without food.

  21. WE NEED AFROCENTRIC RESPONSE TO COVID-19. STOP PUNISHING NIGERIANS!!

Dear Writers, can you help share this to get to the top before it is too late??

Is Self-Isolation the best for Nigeria and Africa at the moment? Let’s look at its end result.

When I listen to Young people that reasons like Seun Kuti, it builds my hope that one day, the narratives will change for good.

Sometimes it seems we write or speak more intelligently than our leaders, it is not so because what we know, they equally know? But this is us telling the raw truth they have refused to tell you and will never tell you because they benefit more from shroud politics and fraudulent leadership, which by all means makes them appear unintelligent. And you as a citizen have not helped matters because you appear to be uninformed as to what your rights are and how to demand for it.

“The People that created social distancing and self isolation against Covid-19 are the Europeans, because, that is what will work for them after putting one or two comprehensive analysis together.

The Chinese didn’t use social distancing and self isolation, they quarantined their people by force, because that is what will work for them at that moment.

But not only that, China were building and putting to use new hospitals every 6days, to help get ahead of the virus, because many Chinese didn’t have access to healthcare and they understood what needed to be done which will work for them. Their response was completely Chinese and not African or European, they knew what China needed to move China fast out of the mess and that’s what they did.

So, when the Virus got to Europe and the Europeans looked at their society and came up with social distancing and self isolation because they understood that that approach is what will help Europeans. Europeans don’t have communities that are without water, they don’t have communities without Hospitals, Europeans don’t live in face-me-I-face-you-houses, some of the homeless they have, they put them in government reserved shelters. Social distancing and self isolation is completely European and Eurocentric response to Covid-19, it is not Chinese response, it is their own Response. Europe doesn’t have slumps like where most people live in Aba, Lagos, Onitsha etc with gutters and shanties here and there. They don’t have communities without free water and electricity. Thus, Self Isolation became easy.

But People buy water in Africa (Nigeria) to survive, some people don’t even have money to buy water. Now the Europeans that asked their people to self isolate, have created different types of funds to put in the pockets of their citizens to sustain them during the Isolation period. But Nigerian medical professionals and politicians are shouting “Self Isolation and social distancing”, how many Nigerians can survive 2weeks without hustling, Without going to the streets to find daily bread?

By forcing Nigerians to self isolate without putting anything in their pockets, the government is only asking Nigerians to choose between death by Covid or death by hunger. How have they saved Nigerians by this? This is not a response peculiar to our society.

You don’t bring an European trained doctor to treat malaria in Nigeria, malaria will kill a lot of people under his watch because he have no such experiences. There’s no mosquito in Europe and so, there are no malaria cases for proper experience.

African leaders should be creative and stop the copycat. This is why we have remained slaves to the westerners. Depending on them for everything.

But African leaders all over the continent gives themselves the best in this world. They ride in the best cars, they wear the best cloths, they live in the best homes, access the best hospitals in the world, have the best security, send their children to the best schools in the world. They give themselves world class services with our Commonwealth.

So, who taught you that you don’t have a right to demand for the best services from them? Who put it in your brains that you don’t deserve to ask them for world class services?

If you like share this till it gets attention, if you don’t like, sit back and wait. Two months in your room, we will know how far.

  22. I was so upset earlier today when I took a tally of billionaires giving money to FG for covid-19.

Why couldn’t they engage food suppliers to bring food and medical supplies. Get voluntees or even employ people to package like NYC did and then supply the populace? Especially less affluent areas.

Let people directly feel the impact of their philanthropy

Or do something similar to what GTB and Emeka Offor did.

Why give FG money to manage when they can’t even manage out economy?

    I’m really pained about this.

Or are they just donating for show????
